As my engagement in the city finished earlier then expected, I planned to treat my wife to a nice dinner. Being in such a big city, u are always confused on where to start. I had decided to find some place close to midtown so that we could take a cab, hang around near 5th ave & do some window shopping. Had 3 restaurants on the list and all served indian cuisine. Not that I am big fan but its always good to start with what you are comfortable with. The 3 restaurants were, Vatan, Chola & Ada.
I had been to Chola quite a few times to try the avial during the weekend buffets. Vatan was something new that I was tilting to but Ada seems to fit in. The menu looked bit different and a chef from one of our favorite restaurants in DC had suggested to us about the restaurant & the owner Dharshan Shah. I called up to check if I need a reservation and they suggested to have one even thought it was a weekday and we were planning to drop in bit early then the regular dinner time.
The restaurant has a nice decor with a bar area & dining area. We were seated immediately & the service was very prompt. The menu has a pre-fix dinner ($55 per person) or the a-la carte. We decided to go with the ala carte. The special selling point of the server was that food is cooked with organic vegetables. We were served a Bombay style bhel puri (on the house) by the chef. The presentation of the dish & the taste were very good.
Our Order:
