ABC primetime, guess what. David Blaine Drowned Alive.
After having numerous street magic shows, he became most popular for his against-the-odds endurance stunts.
The first endurance stunt that he performed was on April 5th, 1999 in NYC named Premature burial. He spent seven days buried inside a glass coffin at the bottom of an open pit in front of an office building in NYC where passersby could view him, 24 hours a day.
The second stunt was dubbed as Frozen in Time, which he did on Nov 2th, 2000, again @ Times Square, NYC where he spent time in a closet of ice. He was given a tube for air & water, and a tube to remove his urine. He spent 61:40:15 (hh:min:ss) before being moved to hospital for shock treatment.
The third stunt was named Vertigo, which he performed in on May 22nd, 2002 again in NYC. This time he stood on a 90-foot high pillar which was 22 inches wide for 35 hours without food & water.
The most media covered stunt was the stunt he performed in London called Above the Below, by having himself enclosed inside a cage over river thames for 44 days. No food no water again. Lost 54 pounds. He got lot of media bashing along with rotten eggs & balloons filled with color
The latest one was called Drowned alive, which he started on May 1st, 2006. His initial plan was to be inside a water cage for 7 days and 7 hours ,offcourse with oxygen supply. but he decided to add an extra effect by being inside water cage , handcuffed for more than 8 minutes and 58 seconds without oxygen at the end. Wasn’t lucky, he has to be taken out.
What is he trying to prove. Human body can undergo the worst of this test and still recover back. Time and time again he has been trying to cheat death by performing odd stunts with 0.1% chances of survival. Life is precious. Live it and enjoy it.
