What happens when Formula 1 moves from Speed to CBS? It drives Formula 1 fans like me nuts & crazy. Had been watching Formula 1 for the last 8 seasons on Speed except for the last 2-3 years when they decided to broadcast US & Canadian grand prix on CBS.
It was nice to watch the season opener Australian and Grand prix on Speed but from Monaco onwards coverage rights is with CBS. I have never seen any motor sports telecast by CBS and didn’t know what their experience was with it. Anyway the first broadcast from San Marino was good and with talented crew who knew what F1 fans love to see and hear. Also it was a fantastic performance by Michael & Ferrari team starting @ pole position 13 and ending 2nd.
Today was Spanish grand prix, again on CBS.
Out of the 66 laps, I suppose CBS would have just showed 35-40 laps live and another 4-5 laps in snapshots. Rest of the time it was all about advertisement and GP tours and other blah blah stuff.
I feel Speed does a better job with respect to covering auto races. They rock. Talented crew, awesome coverage and good post-race cover-up.
